CAMP HOPE

CAMP HOPE FOR CHILDREN

Camp Hope is a camp for children and teens coping with the death of a loved one. The loss of a family member or loved one is never easy, no matter how old you are. At Columbus Hospice and Camp Hope, we aim to help children through the changes and emotions they will face in the transition after losing a loved one.

THE GOALS OF CAMP HOPE ARE TO HELP CHILDREN:

  • Understand that they are not alone and those feelings of loss and grief are normal

  • Have fun while expressing their feelings of grief in an emotionally healthy way

  • Have a safe environment to remember loved ones

The children at Camp Hope achieve these goals through fun-filled activities and opportunities for large and small group sharing. Children are also encouraged to create memories of their loved ones through arts and crafts projects.

Camp Hope is staffed by professional counseling staff and volunteers, as well as camp nurses. And children at Camp Hope get the benefit of compassionate, individualized attention with our ratio of one staff member to every two campers. The well-being, safety, and enjoyment of our campers are always our first concerns.

Thanks to our sponsors, Camp Hope is free. We gratefully acknowledge AFLAC for its continued financial support.

If you know a child or teen between the ages of 6-16 in your home or community who has experienced the loss of a family member or close loved one in the past year, consider Camp Hope.
