Letting go of the pain
Camp Hope is a camp for children and teens who are coping with the death of a loved one. The goals of Camp Hope are to help children:
Understand that they are not alone and
that feelings of loss and grief are normal
Have fun while expressing their feelings
of grief in an emotionally healthy way
Have a safe environment to remember loved ones
This
is accomplished through fun-filled activities and opportunities for large and small group sharing. Children are encouraged to create memories of their loved one through arts and crafts projects.
Columbus Hospice was founded in 1979 as a community based not-for-profit health care organization. Our mission is to provide loving, compassionate care for those with life-limiting illness and their families. The staff and volunteers of Columbus Hospice offer not only the necessary physical care, but emotional and spiritual care as well.
The well being, safety and enjoyment of our campers is our first concern. Camp Hope
is staffed by professional counseling staff and volunteers. The ratio of staff
is one trained staff member per two campers. A camp physician, nurses and lifeguard
are also be available.
If you know of any child or teen between the ages of 6 - 16 in your home, school, church, etc., who has experienced the loss of a significant person through death in the past year, please submit this form on their behalf. Once their name is received, the parent or guardian will be contacted and provided further information about Camp Hope.
Thanks to our sponsors Camp Hope is free.
We gratefully acknowledge AFLAC for their continued financial support, and
Girl Scouts of America for the use of the campgrounds and facilities at "Camp
